Dear Tynecastle High School Supporters,
We’re holding our annual Race Night on Friday 15th November at the BMC Club next to Sainsbury’s. We hope that as many people as possible are able to join us for this fantastic event to raise money for the school.
What is a Race Night?
It’s like a day at the races, but all of the races are pre-recorded and shown on a screen. You place small bets on the horses, and if your horse wins then you win some money. Students are welcome if accompanied by an adult, and you’re welcome to bring your friends and family to the event. Even if you can’t make it on the night, please consider buying and naming a horse to help us raise funds anyway. It’s lots of fun!
How can I get involved?
Tickets cost £5 and can be bought from the school office. You can also reserve tickets by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Horses can be bought and named by sending an envelope containing £5 per horse to the school office, stating: your name, email address and the horse name you’ve chosen.
You can also fill out the form on the link here:
This is one of our key fundraising activities in the school calendar and we really appreciate your support on this. It helps us continue to fund Place2Be, as well as sports awards and kit, and subsidising school trips and outings.
Please give generously and encourage your friends and family to do the same. Any questions? Please email email@example.com

The S4-6 parent /carers’ evening will take place on Tuesday 12 November for students with surnames beginning A-L, and Wednesday 20 November for students with surnames beginning M-Z.
To make bookings go to http://www.parents-booking.co.uk/tynecastle
PLEASE NOTE: You need to type this address into your website browser’s ‘address bar’. Do not try to ‘Google’ this website address or use a search engine as that will not work. This is a common mistake on phones and tablets especially.
You will need:
• Your child’s ‘known as’ forename and legal surname
• Your child’s date of birth
The system will be open from 7pm on 29 October and will be open to take your bookings until 6.55 pm on 12 November for A-L and on 20 November for M-Z.
Once you have logged in, we suggest you use the ‘Automated Booking’ wizard to make your appointments. You will be asked to enter your availability and choose which teachers you want to see before being shown the most efficient order for visiting those teachers on the night. Alternatively login to see which appointments are available for the members of staff with whom you would like to meet, and select appointment times that are convenient for you.
If you are unable to book at home, please call the office between 9.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Thursday or 9.30am to 12.30pm on a Friday and a member of staff will be happy to help you.
Additionally, there will be the opportunity to hear from school staff about two very important aspects of planning for young people:
• Prelim and Exam Study Supports
• Career Trends and Options
There will be drop-in sessions throughout the evening, each lasting no longer than half an hour.
We look forward to seeing you.
