Tynecastle High School was chosen to take part in an exciting inter-disciplinary WW1 project in June. As part of the project students were given the chance to interact with a custom made replica WW1 ‘Kit-bag’ designed for secondary schools and developed by a Young People’s Steering group. The project was created in partnership with CEC Arts and Creative Learning, and Historic Scotland’s learning team.
Over the course of the three day project students had the opportunity to visit Edinburgh Castle, explore the Castle’s WW1 connections and take part in a WW1 recruitment re-enactment. On their return to school the students worked collaboratively and created an impressive showcase exhibition that was staged in the school on Wednesday the 10th of June. Members of the community, friends and family attended this event alongside the original partners from Creative Scotland and Edinburgh Libraries. The event was considered a complete success and as a result we have been asked to re-stage the exhibition at Fountainbridge Library on the 11th of November from 6pm-7.30pm to coincide with Armistice Day.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone in the local community to the launch of our exhibition of music, film, art and writing created by our students. **We ask that all RSVPs are sent to Lindsey Henderson at Fountainbridge Library by Monday the 9th of November at the following email address: Lindsey.firstname.lastname@example.org
