S3 Edinburgh College Design Partnership

Our Edinburgh College Schools’ Ambassadors

S3 students have been taking part in an exciting pilot project with the Graphic Design department of Edinburgh College’s Faculty of Creative Industries. Two Schools’ Ambassadors from Edinburgh College are delivering a series of workshops across seven Edinburgh schools with students signing up to take part in a design brief with a deadline as an independent project completed in their own time, supported by the College and the Ambassadors. This exciting project will also gain the students a Module called Preparation for Study within the Creative Industries. From this, 20 students from the seven schools will be selected to take part in a week long workshop with the College and their Design partners. This is a really exciting partnership project and real world experience for our students.

Higher Education Tuition Fee Information

SAAS-LogoAll pupils who plan to study a course of Higher Education at HNC level or above must apply to the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) for funding.  Although tuition fees are effectively free in Scotland, you must apply to SAAS to pay them on your behalf, otherwise your college or university will charge you the cost of your tuition which is £1,285 for an HNC or HND and £1,820 for a degree.

You must apply to SAAS for your funding by no later than 30 June prior to every year of your course, to make sure your funding is in place by the start of each term.

SAAS can also supply bursaries and student loans to help with living costs such as books, travel accommodation etc.  Full details are available on the SAAS website www.saas.gov.uk.  A handy funding guide can be found here http://www.saas.gov.uk/_forms/funding_guide.pdf and a video which explains the funding available, how to apply and when to apply can be found here http://www.saas.gov.uk/images/presentation.mp4. This information is also available in the College and University information pages on our website here.
