In September our Duke of Edinburgh Gold expedition group of five senior students returned from a tough 4 day loop around the island of Mull. They had to endure some very tough terrain, some wild weather on Saturday on the West coast and some tricky mountain passes!
The route took them from the ferry down to Lochbuie in the south then a scenic campsite next to Moy castle and the sea. Day 2 they headed over a sunny pass towards Benmore with more tough navigation and tricky terrain to keep them busy. The wild weather on Saturday meant the longer lower west coast route was a sensible choice for Day 3. On the final day they enjoyed more sunshine and a nice pass over to Salen to get the bus back to the ferry.
The group showed their exceptional skills of teamwork, navigation and stamina to complete their expedition – a great achievement! (And the staff made it back in one piece too!)
Part of their assessment was to create a presentation about their trip, and so we’re looking forward to the video they made being shown in school today!
