Carnegie Book Award News

James Gillespie’s High School and Tynecastle joined forces to celebrate the Carnegie Book Award. Students involved enjoyed meeting each other and sharing their views about

the books they have read. As part of the event students were tasked with creating their very own ‘Waterstones Window Display’ for their favourite Carnegie author. The results were fantastic with some excellent examples of creativity on display. Pictured is the very sophisticated winning window display and the worthy runners-up.

World Book Day 2016

World Book Day, the international celebration of books and reading, takes place on Thursday the 3rd of March. Special £1 Book Tokens, which can be exchanged in bookshops for a brilliant £1 book, will be given to all S1 and S2 students when they visit the library to take part in a quiz. There are plenty of tokens to give away, so students from other year groups can also collect one from the Library or from the English Department.   Tynecastle High School Librarian
