It’s been a fun week of Digital Learning here at Tynecastle. On Tuesday morning we had a reception to celebrate the recognition of our digital learning programme as an ‘Apple Distinguished Programme‘. Attended by a number of local dignitaries, business leaders and educators, Councillor Cammy Day, Education Convenor for the City of Edinburgh Council, unveiled our new Apple Distinguished Programme plaque! The story also featured in the Evening News – read the article by following this link…
On Tuesday evening we held our first evening community event celebrating digital learning. Families from our four associated primaries and from Tynecastle attended, taking part in science experiments with wireless temperature probes, beat the goalie including video analysis of your footwork!, animation, digital drawing, robotics and more. Linking in with this year’s National Internet Safety Day, we also heard about how to develop our Digital Resilience from Sarah at Place2B, our community police officer, PC Scott, and one of our student support leaders, Louise Moultray.
On Wednesday and Thursday P6 classes from our associated primaries (Balgreen, Craiglockhart, Dalry and Stenhouse Primary Schools) came along and took part in digital learning workshops with a number of our teachers and students. The students took part in workshops around art, history, modern languages, music and science. It was great to have our learning communities come together and learn from each other.
Tynecastle High School would like to invite you to our first ever Performance Showcase. This event (which we intend to run annually) will highlight and showcase the array of talent and skill within the Performance Faculty (P.E., Dance, Music and Drama) as well as showcasing the creativity of the Design Faculty. This evening is also about developing and consolidating student qualities of commitment and confidence, while of course ensuring students enjoy themselves.
The Performance Showcase will take place on Wednesday 15th June. The format will be 3×30 minute slots from 6pm-8:30pm (see below). Tickets are required by family and friends who wish to attend the event but there is no cost. Tickets are available from the school office. Initially tickets will be limited to 4 per family, however, any remaining tickets will be made available on Monday 13th June.
This is a family event which is part of the Sharing Secrets Festival and has been jointly planned with our Parent Council. There will be a BBQ, with burgers and soft drinks available to purchase from 6.00pm onwards, as well as in between performances. The Parent Council raffle has amazing prizes to be won and raffle tickets can be purchased from school offices prior to the event as well as on the evening.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please see below the running order for each 30 minute slot.
