Dear Parents / Carers,
In the next few weeks students in S4 and S5 will be making their course choices in our Senior Phase for the session 2017-2018. The course choice booklet is available here. A separate course choice sheet has been issued to students in S4 and S5 (and you can see a copy here).
The course choice booklet contains descriptions of courses available at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. The National Parent Forum of Scotland has produced excellent resources that describe these SQA courses, their content and assessment requirements in jargon free detail and these can be found on the ‘For Parents’ section on their website – information on National Qualifications can be found here, information on Higher Qualifications can be found here.
In addition to these courses we also have a range of vocational experiences and opportunities for wider achievement designed to develop the skills essential for successful employment. Many of these courses are certificated through the SQA and other bodies. Details of these opportunities can also be found in our course choice booklet.
On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons we also offer access to a range of courses at Edinburgh College. Details of these courses can be found here.
Throughout this course choice process our young people will be supported by Support for Pupils Leaders and our Careers Advisor.
Please read through these documents and spend time discussing next steps with your son or daughter. Of course, please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any concerns or queries.
