Message for S6 from the Head Teacher

Dear S6,

I am getting in touch about a couple of things but just wanted to start by telling you how much you have been missed and how proud we are of you. I know that this pandemic has taken your last couple of months in school as well as your opportunity to both sit exams and to have proper farewells with your friends and teachers. However, I have been so impressed by your strength and resilience – you have dealt with all of this remarkably well and this is definitely something that you will be remembered for.

Last Week of School

As we enter, what would be your last official week of school we are trying to pull together a little ‘farewell for now’ to you and we will hopefully have that ready by the end of next week. However, I promised you that you would have a proper farewell and a Prom when the pandemic is over and all the restrictions have been lifted, and I will of course stick to this promise and work with your House Captains after the summer to decide what we are able to do. Miss Bowerman will also be in touch.

Returning your iPad

As you will know, we are desperately trying to ensure that all our students and their families have access to a device so that they can continue with their learning at home. The council are trying to help schools with this but this is taking longer than expected. Therefore, we are looking for your help. Normally you would return your iPad after your last exam but of course that has all changed this year. What we are asking you to do, where it is safe and fits in with your daily exercise, is to return your iPad to the school office on a Wednesday, or to the BMC Club on a Thursday between 9am and 1pm or a Friday between 12pm and 2pm. This is so that your iPad can be given to a younger student who currently has no device for Learning@Home. Please note that this is only if you can do so safely on foot or bike and while maintaining social distancing at all times. If you would prefer that a member of your family do this instead that is absolutely fine so long as it fits with current guidance on keeping safe. If you would like to arrange for someone to collect it from outside your door then please email and we will try to arrange this while out delivering food and other essentials within our community.

One Last Task

However, before you do anything, you will need to take a photograph of yourself for our farewell message. If you need to use your iPad to take the photograph then do it now and send it to You will also need to follow the signing out guidance before returning your iPad.

Once more, I am so proud of you and look forward to seeing you virtually soon and in person after the summer.

Do take care, stay connected and most importantly, stay safe.

Ms Kinnear
