Message from the Head Teacher

THS Learning @ Home

Dear all,

And here we are again at the end of another week, and what a beautiful week of weather it has been.

Resources

Can I start by saying a huge thank you to our S6 students for their understanding and resilience regarding Prom cancellation. I am also really grateful to them for their return of iPads so that we can provide for other students without devices. We are working with the council on filling this gap but it is taking longer than anticipated for them to secure devices so I really appreciate these returns where students are able to do so safely and in line with current guidelines.

With regard to resources, I am aware that many younger students picked up extra jotters before leaving in March. However, with so much hard work going on these are running out. Spare jotters can be picked up from school on Tuesday if it is safe for you to do so and you can include it in your daily exercise. They can also be collected on Thursday between 9am and 1pm and Friday between 12pm and 2pm at the BMC Club, on Gorgie Road. Please do check our website for updates before heading out to ensure that there have been no changes to these arrangements.

Phase 1

I am sure you were all as delighted as me to hear The First Minister announce the beginning of Phase 1 to ease lockdown as of today. As you will have heard this means that staff will begin over the next few weeks to prepare for our return on August 11 and the new blended learning approach which is being developed. Of course it is also an opportunity for those who are safe to do so to meet family and friends outside, while socially distancing and ensuring contact with only one other household at a time. I really hope that this is a lovely weekend for you and that the gorgeous weather anticipated means that you are able to take advantage of the beginning of Phase 1 while keeping safe.

So, until next week please do take care, stay connected and most importantly, continue to stay safe.

Ms Kinnear
