I hope that you all managed some rest this weekend with some daily exercise too, if not self-isolating. Taking care of ourselves and our physical and mental health, whether students, parent/carers, or staff, needs to be our priority and I definitely found this easier without the pressure of work. So, please do keep things manageable for yourselves and let us know how we can help to make this possible as we progress with our second week.
This week we also embark on our first full week as the Tynecastle High School Hub for the children of key workers. Our Hub consists of Boroughmuir High, Bruntsfield Primary, Dalry Primary, Craiglockhart Primary, Roseburn Primary, St Cuthbert’s Primary, Tollcross Primary and Tynecastle High. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome these schools on Friday as we formed our Hub for the first time. This week I anticipate that we will have about 40 or 50 students in our Hub. The staff from all these schools who are making this possible are doing an incredible job, ensuring that key workers are able to continue in their vital roles, so it is a huge thank you to them.
For everyone else, working at home, thank you to you too as you embark on this week. Of interest to those who might not have accessed them before are the apps Google Arts and Culture and also TED Talks. Both of these offer excellent opportunities to let young people lead their learning and I hope you enjoy where they take you if you have time to look at them.
Take care, stay connected and most importantly, stay safe.
