Young people who were eligible to leave school at Christmas, but decided to stay on at school, could be entitled to an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
Funded by the Scottish Government, the EMA is a grant of £30 per week to support 16-19 year olds from low-income families, staying on at school in Edinburgh after they reach the school leaving age. An EMA would be paid for 6 months from January to June.
