Participatory Budgeting

We are so proud to be the first school in Scotland to allocate 10% of our Pupil Equity Funding to our students, allowing them to decide how this funding will be spent. We recently celebrated the unveiling of the big vote by inviting councillors, parents, and colleagues from City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government to join our Student Steering Group in school.

The importance of this innovative approach to engage students in decision making attracted the attention of the media and featured in the STV news report below. This report highlighted our work, along with the work of Balerno High School, in ensuring equity for all students. (Clip courtesy of STV).

Head Teacher’s update:
I am delighted to be able to share some of the highlights of a very busy term. Before Easter we were very pleased to host both our Sports Awards and our new Spring Fling. The holiday was a busy time for many students preparing for their National Qualifications and attending Easter Study Support. We are delighted to report that the examinations have been going really well so far. We have also been focusing on our highly successful Meaningful May programme and our newly developed Health and Wellbeing Week. I hope that you enjoy reading about the work of our school community.
